The Sonoma Diet
Book
Dr. Connie
Guttersen wrote the
Sonoma Diet Book, which was published in 2005.
The diet is based on the lifestyle diet of the Mediterranean
countries because of the research showing the people living in this
area had relatively few problems with heart disease. Although the
Sonoma Diet is restrictive, it is not as restrictive as some of the
other diets that are very popular. Basically, this diet takes some
of the basics of the Mediterranean Diet and adds to it. If you like
the food of this region, you will do well on this diet in losing
weight. It also includes foods from the Sonoma region of California
so in a way this diet connects two distinct parts of the world.
As you read
the book, you will learn about the three waves or stages
of the diet. Wave 1 is the strictest because this is where you learn
how to control the portions of food you eat to train your body. The
first wave only lasts ten days, but you won't feel hungry with the
delicious food you eat. The breakfasts, lunches and dinners all
contain healthy foods that will help you have good overall health.
You can use the meal planner and recipes to make sure that every
meal you enjoy is according to the diet.
Wave 2 is the most important part of the diet plan. This is
the plan you will stick with until you lose all the extra pounds and reach
your goal weight. In this stage, you can add more foods to your diet
and you can also have wine with your meals. Once you reach your
weight loss goal, you wills tart Wave 3. This stage will help you to
choose foods that will enable you to maintain your weight loss.
Although it is important to exercise to firm up your muscles, this
diet plan does not recommend any exercise structure. It is up to you
to decide how you want to exercise and when you want to do it.
